Welcome to the Department of Sociology and Work Science

Research, education and partnerships are pursued at the Department in several disciplines. Research programmes cover the labour market and working life, social welfare, social movements, sustainable development, environmental policy, the sociology of law, crime and social control. Education is provided in disciplines including sociology, work science, human resources science, criminology and human resources management. The Department also has extensive undertakings in several academic programmes at the University of Gothenburg, particularly within teacher education. The Department is engaged in collaborative and development projects with partners in the private business sector and the public sector.

Notice of your admission

student@socav.gu.se is closed for the summer and opens again on Thursday 1st of August.
If you are in need of special support for an examination, we will handle your questions after the 2nd of August.

A first admission message for applicants for the autumn courses will be available on Antagning.se on July 11. To accept or reject your position: Go to My pages to reply by July 26 at the latest.

Admission Notice 2

Your second admission notice for the autumn term 2019 will be published on 1st of August.

The official start date of the semester is 2nd of September. For more precise dates for starting your course or program, look up your course via the Canvas learning platform (see link below).

Information about the course / program start from the Department of Sociology and Work Science

No later than week 33, you are expected to receive a welcome letter from the department via e-mail. The letter contains a link to Canvas (the University of Gothenburg's learning platform), where you will find schedules, syllabuses and literature lists, as well as information about registration.

The registration takes place August 26-27 (period 1) and October 29-30 (period 2). Registration is mandatory - if you do not register you risk losing your place of education!

Student Office and student counselors

The expedition is closed from June 28 and opens again on Monday, August 12 (closed August 15). The expedition's opening hours are Monday 13-15, Wednesday-Thursday 9-12. Phone no.: 031-786 48 00
