Ph.D Chalmers University of Technology 1973. 1990 Board member, National Institute for Working Life. 1994 Adjunct Professor, Department of Human Factors Engineering, Chalmers. 1999 Regional Director, NIWL. 2002 Senior Researcher, NIWL. 2004 Scientific Editor, International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics. 1998 Co-ordinator, EU project (Biomed-2). 2002 Board Member, Center for Musculoskeletal Research, University of Gävle. 2005 Co-ordinator, ESF project "Life Competence 50+", Workplaces in Change. 2006 Co-ordinator, study for the Swedish government "A prolonged working life for the elderly workforce: needs and possibilities". 2010 Work Package leader, Best Agers project “Work and Employment”. Since 2007 visiting professor/researcher with Department of Work Science.

Technical and organisational design of work and workplaces. Since 2007 emphasis on ageing and work.

Current research
Studies of work participation and demographics in the Baltic Sea Region.
Analysis of attitudes towards older workers among employers and employees.
Analysis of attitudes towards retirement in different occupational groups.
Generation shift in companies and public sector.

Studies for the Swedish Armed Forces concerning the generation shift in military officers 2009 and 2011. Several projects in co-operation with the Västra Götaland Region concerning demographic change, competence availability and competence transfer. Reports for the Interreg Baltic Sea project Best Agers on employability of older people, calculation of cost and benefits in relation to older employees, and competence transfer in SMEs in a generation shift. Many interviews about age and work in national media, including Radio Sweden (English). Participated in the University of Gothenburg media seminar in October, 2011.
