Background
Social Work Degree 1985th Has also studied Social Anthropology and Philosophy of Science at Gothenburg University. Doctorate jacks 2010-09-01 in the subject work science.

Senior Lecturer and worked as a researcher and lecturer at the Department of Sociology and Work Science. Previously worked at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Gothenburg.

Research interest
Gunnar Gillberg´s research interest is primarily the so-called individualization process relevant to young adults' identity, ideas, opportunities and constraints in the labor market. Theoretically, the research is rooted in a critical realistic perspective, the relationship between structure and agents are two basic elements. The key research questions are concentrated on the relationship between young adults' beliefs about work and other life and the contextual and structural conditions that enable and limit the life opportunities, flexibility and resource mobilization.

Ongoing research
The starting point for future research, the aim is to understand young adults' lives and to relate these terms to the overall structural changes occurring in society. This approach seems particularly important at a time when self-esteem and the individual's ability to navigate between different choices and options is becoming increasingly crucial for understanding the individual's life chances and employment opportunities. Individualisation and its consequences appears in the tension between increasing demands for self-governance and individual resources that generates a reflexive ability to handle these new demands. Class plays in this context is still a central role, but to understand the inequality that characterizes our society, must be reformulated concept of class and related to a rapidly changing labor market. A central research question is then which individual and social mechanisms that influence young people's life chances and employment opportunities.

Education
Gunnar has taught at the University since 1996. A selection of courses I lead or have led the Development of Social Economy (20p), Risk Society, Globalization and Alternative Strategies (10 points) Working in projects and networks (10p), Project, Project Leadership and Conflict Management (15 credits), and KY Project Training . He has acted as manager for the course Cooperative counseling processes.
Currently Gunnar teaches qualitative methods at the department.

Methodology Research Methods in Work Science (15p) and in the course social change - individual and collective in a global world (15 credits), Project management and consultative change management 15hp). Is from the Autumn 2010 course director for Human Work Science 1 (15hp) and Work Science 2 (15hp) at the working scientific program, and carries out the main teaching and seminar leadership in these courses.
