About Lisa Lindén

Since February 2018 Lisa Lindén works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Sociology and Work Science (SocAv), University of Gothenburg. Between February 2019 and January 2021 she is a visiting researcher at the Centre for Science Studies, Department of Sociology, Lancaster University.

During the fall of 2017 she worked at SocAv as a lecturer, and during 2016-2017 she worked as a lecturer at the Department of Sociology, Stockholm University. She defended her PhD thesis in 2016 at the unit for Technology and Social Change, Linköping University. She also has an BA and an MA in Sociology, both from the University of Gothenburg.

In her research she draws upon perspectives from Science and Technology Studies (STS). She is interested in a number of research areas, mostly focusing on issues relating to medicine, health care, public engagement, reproduction and sexuality. Her current project is a 3 year ethnographic study of gynecological cancer patient advocacy groups in Sweden and the UK. The research is funded by an International Postdoc Grant from The Swedish Research Council. The host institution abroad is the Department of Sociology, Lancaster University.

Her PhD thesis Communicating Care: The Contradictions of HPV Vaccination Campaigns (Arkiv Academic Press, 2016), is situated to feminist STS studies, and especially to research on care practices. The study contributes to this research through its focus on temporal dimensions of care. In 2016 the PhD thesis won the award for best PhD thesis of the year at the Faculty of Philosophy, Linköping University.
