LETStudio - The University of Gothenburg Learning and Media Technology Studio

Founded in 2010, LETStudio is a strategic initiative promoting interdisciplinary research within the Learning Sciences at The University of Gothenburg. Bringing together more than 50 researchers across five university faculties, LETStudio addresses issues of knowledge, learning, communication and expertise in contemporary society. In particular, the aim is to both explore and further enable creative re-enactments of knowledge and learning through the introduction of new media technologies. How does scientific knowledge gain new currency in professional, public and private life through its growing association with media technologies? What does this imply for the future of expert-lay relations, the saliency of new citizen science practices and the nature of experimentation in relation to technologically and scientifically complex issues?
Major initiatives within LETStudio include the project Taking Science to the Crowd: Researchers, Programmers and Volunteer Contributors Transforming Science Online funded by the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation and launched during 2014. From our department participation is particularly strong in research on innovative healthcare delivery where LETStudio is collaborating with the University of Gothenburg Centre for Person-Centred Care and the University of Exeter Medical School in the UK.

Representing our department and the Faculty of Social Sciences, Mark Elam is a member of the LETStudio Steering Committee. In addition, Doris Lydahl is the PhD student representative on this Committee.
