Admissions

Entry requirements

Applicants to the Programme must hold a Bachelor’s degree within the Social Sciences or equivalent, corresponding to at least 180 credits. Proficiency in English is also required: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS. Selection criteria

Selection will be based on an assessment of the academic and professional merits of applicants leading to judgment of their overall ability to successfully complete the programme. To assist in this process applicants should not only submit documentation demonstrating fulfillment of the entry requirements (i.e. degree certificate and transcript, certification of language skills) but also the following items: (1) a personal letter motivating their application (max. 500 words), (2) a CV (max. 500 words). Applicants who do not submit these additional documents will not be considered for admission.

During the selection process priority will be given to applicants holding a bachelor degree in Sociology, corresponding to at least 180 credits. However, the final selection decision will encompass a combined assessment of the applicant’s letter of intent and CV.

The letter of intent

The letter of intent should address the following questions:
• How have your past experiences (both academic and non-academic) shaped your interest in the Master Programme in Sociology?
• What specifically in the structure and content of the Programme do you find most appealing?
• What are your expectations of the Programme? Which the personal and professional goals do you believe the Programme can help you fulfill?
