Implementation of Process Development and Lean in Health Care: The Importance for Work Environment, improvement of work practices and work-related health

Healthcare is facing an intensive period of restructurings and reorientations. A long series of attempts to develop and rationalize healthcare has led to insights that more sustainable and close-to-practice methods of organizational improvements needs to be applied. With our Scandinavian tradition of employee involvement and learning in working life, there is potential for developing more sustainable care processes - while strengthening opportunities for enthusiasm and well-being. The overall aim is to study and describe approaches to building and organizing capacity for sustainable work processes, learning, commitment and well-being - undergoing reorientation of healthcare processes.

We study in particular:

  • Implementation approaches at various levels
  • Consequences for work environment, health and work engagement among health care professionals
  • Change management and change agents
  • How visualization of complex processes is used and how they contribute to engagement and improvement work
  • The importance of social capital and how social capital can be built in teams and in organization
  • Leadership development and supportive resources
